PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin)

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW..

Similar to PRP, PRF also comes from your own blood, but in a slightly different form that
works even longer and slower. This allows your body to get even more out of its natural
healing cells to bring out healthier skin and hair. By applying PRF to the face, we can help improve the look of fine lines, scars, and tired-looking skin. When used on the scalp, PRF helps with hair loss by encouraging hair growth and thickness over time.

WHAT IS PRF?

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a powerful and advanced version of the popular Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments. During a PRF procedure, a small sample of your blood is drawn and processed using the safe and effective Selphyl® PRF system. This system spins the blood in a centrifuge, creating a highly concentrated solution that is richer and more restorative than traditional PRP.

Unlike PRP, which stimulates healing for about a day, PRF condenses your platelets to encourage cell growth and tissue healing for up to a week. This enhanced concentration provides longer-lasting and more significant rejuvenation.

What Can PRF Treat?

PRF stimulates natural cell development and extends the cell growth cycle, addressing the underlying causes of aging rather than just the symptoms. It is effective in treating a variety of concerns, including:

  • Hair loss and scalp restoration
  • Loss of skin volume
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Poor skin texture and elasticity
  • Hollowing under the eyes
  • Facial scars and stretch marks

Because PRF uses your own blood, there’s no risk of an allergic reaction or need for prior testing, ensuring a safe and natural approach to rejuvenation.

What Happens During a PRF Procedure?

Before the procedure, your provider conducts a thorough examination to ensure you’re a suitable candidate. A small amount of blood is drawn and prepared using the Selphyl system, which safely removes contaminants and converts PRP into PRFM. This process creates a supportive scaffold that preserves and protects your platelets for optimal healing.

Once prepared, the injection site is numbed to ensure comfort. The procedure itself is quick, taking approximately 20 minutes. Some temporary redness, bruising, or mild itching may occur but typically resolves quickly. Ice packs can be used to alleviate any tenderness.

The number of treatments required depends on your goals, and your provider can help design a customized treatment plan to meet your needs.
